About the M.A.S.

The Melbourne Anime Society was founded in Melbourne, Australia in 1990 to promote anime - Japanese animation - preferably with English subtitles.  By helping others find out about some of the vast variety of anime shows it aims to give them the opportunity to appreciate and enjoy anime.  To the best of our knowledge it is the second oldest continuously running anime club in Australia.  The term anime is used to refer to the cartoons, or rather the Japanese animation, while manga refers to the comics (graphic novels is perhaps a better description).

Currently, MAS operates twice a month at the Northcote Town Hall, screening 5 hours of anime projected onto a screen.
