Conditions of Entry (This competition is open Internationally)

MAS is looking for a mascot - something that will be recognisable. A defining symbol of the Melbourne Anime Society for at least the next year.

  1. Mascot may be combined with the logo if you wish to enter both competitions however the two - logo and mascot - must be able to be used independently of the other.
  2. Theme Obviously something anime related however it may be anything.  The competition is not limited to human only mascots so let your imagination run wild.  If you can draw it, the judging panel will consider it.
  3. Poses As many as possible although the Committee reserve the right to ask for a specific pose for use.
  4. File Format The email attachment is to be JPG, GIF or PNG.  The high resolution version of the file will be a single layer PSD, TIFF, or other printing format unless otherwise agreed.
  5. Resolution At least 75 dpi, however higher resolutions are recommended.  When submitting though, a file size restriction of 1MB will apply to the attachment via email.  A URL to a larger file may also be submitted  or a higher quality scan of the original work(s) may be subsequently requested.
  6. Colour Whether it has colour or not is not of particular concern as the mascot will be used widely, sometimes where colour is available, eg. websites, sometimes where colour won't be available so both colour and black (grey scale) and white submissions are good.  You can submit either but be aware that the judging panel will be examining the logo with both colour and black (grey scale) and white in mind.
  7. Content Warning:
    1. This is a mascot competition and the mascot will be on display as often as we can get it published so please, no extreme violence or nudity to be included in this picture.
    2. Original work only.
  8. Copyright By submitting, the artist agrees that upon completion of the competition the submitted winning entry and any other entries as requested by the MAS Committee, will become the exclusive property of MAS Incorporated and is for their sole use only.  MAS would further request that artists not distribute non winning entries where they have aspects specifically referring to MAS.
  9. Submission:
    1. Your submitted work must be:
      • Received by midnight, 7th June 2004 (Australian Eastern Standard Time, GMT +10)
      • Even if you include the URL, a file of less than 1MB must be submitted as an attachment in the submitting email.
    2. Attach a text file (or printout) containing:
      • Your name or nickname
      • Your contact details
      • URL to your work (if applicable - see points 4 & 8a)
      • A 50 to 250 words description explaining why your mascot is appropriate for MAS.
    3. Submit your work via:

YOUR mascot will be the new face of MAS and will appear as often as MAS can get it published!

Fine Print:

  1. Members of the judging panel may not enter.
  2. By entering your work to this competition, you have consented to have your illustration used for as a MAS Mascot and for your name/nickname added to the MAS website in recognition of your work.
  3. MAS takes no responsibility for the entrant's illegal use of copyrighted material however they will cease all distribution of copyrighted material as soon as they are notified about any infringement and will seek to regain the prize where wrongfully awarded.
  4. MAS gives no undertaking to return to the entrant, their entry.
  5. MAS does not sell artwork or designs without the artists/designers permission.  MAS also does its best to ensure that any electronic copies of your work are protected against theft.
  6. MAS reserves the right to award no prizes pending the standard of entries so consequently the competition may be re-run at the discretion of the MAS Committee
  7. The judges' decision is final.  No correspondence will be entered into on this matter.
  8. Prizes are non-refundable and non-exchangeable.
