In 1985 Miyazaki co-founded Studio Ghibli, often referred to as the Disney of the East. Since then, he has produced many of the Studio's most outstanding films and is recognised as one of Japan's most visionary directors and as an icon in the field of animation. Known primarily to Australian audiences for his films Mononoke Hime (PRINCESS MONONOKE) and Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi (SPIRITED AWAY), this showcase gives Australian viewers the opportunity to see some of his earlier.
For the very first time in Australian cinemas: all on 35mm print, feature length in Japanese with English subtitles.  Screening for a limited season only at each location.
The following films make up the Miyazaki Showcase:

Animania
It's happening again!
After a successful debut in 2002 Sydney's only anime and Japanese pop culture convention, animania, is back in 2003.  We've retooled the whole thing since last year, added a bit more spit and polish and are set to give you a great weekend.  Weekend? Yes, that's right, animania is now expanding to a two day format.  One day just wasn't enough so this year animania will be spread across the weekend of October 11 and 12.
We're planning on improving every aspect of last year's convention.  This year there'll be more screenings, more events, more vendors and more competitions.  animania will take place at the state of the art Scientia Building at the University of New South Wales.  The convention will run from 10 until 5 each day.  For more details on the location of the convention click here.
Excited? Then why not join the Animania 2003 mailing list? Keep aprised of the most recent news and updates straight from the horse's mouth, so to speak.  If you've got a question then duck over to our bulletin board, hosted by the kind people at SUAnime.
More details will be going up over the coming months as we confirm more events, more vendors and more competitions.
Location: University of New South Wales, Kensington Campus.  Scientia Building.
