Boardgames / Miniatures/Tabletop Games

Miniatures and tabletop games derived from or inspired by anime (Japanese animation) and/or manga (Japanese comics).  To begin with this section will borrow heavily from catalogs and firm's press release etc for the descriptions.

BATTLETECH
Published by FASA.
For more than a decade FASA had incorporated into its fictional BattleTech universe some images created and used in the Japanese television series Macross.  Though FASA maintained it had licensed the mecha designs from the Japanese Studio Nue its right to use these images was challenged by Harmony Gold and Playmates Toys who had the American rights to the Robotech TV series (an Americanised version of Macross).  Although the court case against FASA was dismissed, FASA phased out the dozen or so specific design images that appeared in the Macross series so that the only mecha designs now present in BattleTech are those done by FASA itself.

HEAVY GEAR: TACTICAL COMBAT BOXED SET
"Contains four 32 page books: Rulebook, Campaign Guide, Northern and Southern Players Manuals.  Also four maps, over 50 counters, 30 plastic bases, four dice and an exclusive metal miniature.  " From the Military Simulations catalog.

HEAVY GEAR MINIATURES
No longer made by RAFM.

STAR BLAZERS
"Tactical space combat rules based on the classic animated science fiction series staring Space Battleship Yamato.  The rules include many simple cut-out ship counters, but a fine range of starship miniatures are available.  Now you can refight the Gamilon and White Comet Wars of 2199-2201 AD.  Send for the Yamato with its massive Wave Motion gun and try to crush the evil Gamilon ships and eventually their empire, before the White Comet Empire decides to destroy Earth.  The game rules are simple enough to allow battles between fleets, and there are ship record sheets for all ship types at the back of the rules.  " From the Military Simulations catalog.  Miniatures in the Star Blazers range include the Space Battleship Yamato (naturally), SBB Andromeda, Desslok Command Ship, Magna Flame Ship Medaruus, Tri-Deck Carrier etc.
